Serenity Farms-Paid Internship Opportunity
New Jersey Opportunity
I work for a company called Weatherbeeta, we’re an equestrian wholesale company. We’re currently hiring in our Customer Service Department. If you know of any appropriate places to share this job listing, it is a great opportunity for anyone who studied Equine Science and wants to stay in the equine industry but would prefer to work indoors rather than in the barn. The listing and contact information can be found here: https://www.weatherbeeta.com/careers. This is a full time position in our Edison, NJ office.
I wanted to share with you an opportunity for some of your students to gain practical horsemanship teaching experience. At Rawhide we give about 10,000 riding lessons a year and have taught countless kids to ride in our 54 year history. The camp was founded by Clarence and Mary Jean Chown (Parents of World Champion trainers Robert and Tom Chown, and Leonard and Troy Davis). We have camps and lessons year-round and also have a competitive vaulting team that was founded by Patti Skipton, who coached the team that performed at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Rawhide has a rich history and alumni such as renowned trainers Matt Mills, Brad Jewett and Corey Wilson. Legendary trainer Charlie Cole got his start at Rawhide Ranch. During our summer camp program (which runs about 11 weeks including staff training) we hire additional staff to work as camp counselors and class instructors. We are always looking for quality young people who are willing to invest in the lives of kids and teens. I think this could be an excellent opportunity for some of your students to get a lot of teaching hours under their belts. Our summer staff oversee classes in horsemanship, horse science, animal husbandry, vaulting, and a wide variety of other “camp” activities. They will also spend time in the morning and afternoon helping the kids by managing one of our livestock areas. You can see more at our website www.rawhideranch.com or reach me at 760-758-0083 ext 105.

Karl Avdek is the founder/president of the Hawkeye Farms Foundation; www.hawkeyefarmsfoundation.com. Hawkeye Farms Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation; raising funding and awareness for children and animals through art and entertainment events. We have been up for about two years and have participated in events for Ice Hockey in Harlem, Endeavour Therapeutic Horsemanship, The Equine Sanctuary, the New York Polo Club, Juvenile Diabetes, The Riders Closet, Pegasus, Toys 4 Tots, Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball, Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue, among others.
In addition to my history as a horseman, I am also a mental toughness/peak performance coach and am speaking on performance issues relative to horsemanship this fall at the EQUINE SANCTUARY in Springfield, Mass.; https://equineaffaire.com/events/massachusetts/
This event is attended by over 120,000 people and will launch our big project; a feature film with a portion of proceeds going to horse rescue.
I am looking for an intern to help with our social media. Involvement would begin immediately and run through into the spring. I would think that this would be an excellent opportunity for a horseman/woman with interests and skills in marketing. Interestingly enough due to the timing it is not a burdensome situation either; time wise. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Karl Avdek at 475.441.7799.
